Today we continue to look back at the Atlanta Braves‘ 2016 season position-by-position.

For almost two decades the Braves had one of the most foolproof third base plans in all of baseball – just, you know, keep playing Chipper Jones. Unfortunately, in the years since his retirement following the 2012 season, the third base picture in Atlanta has been far blurrier.
Chris Johnson, acquired as part of the original Justin Upton trade, had one excellent season in 2013 but came crashing back to earth and was traded in 2015. Juan Francisco, Juan Uribe, Alberto Callaspo, Hector Olivera, and others cycled through the position but only Uribe saw any amount of success and he was traded away.
Now, the Braves do have an everyday third baseman but questions remain about his ability to stick at the hot corner long-term.
In total, five different players saw time at third in 2016. Two (Reid Brignac and Chase d’Arnaud) also played some second and are included in that post (linked above).
